X-Radiographs

The AMGRF has a large archive of several thousand Southern Ocean core X-Radiographs that have been acquired utilizing a Phillips Electronics, Norelco, Industrial Analog X-Radiographs Unit. The AMGRF will upon the request of sponsored researchers acquire specific core X-Radiographs for use in their studies.

Large volume requests require that individuals provide funds for some of the cost of materials. Scientists have access to and can view our X-Radiographs data at the AMGRF. Loans of core X-Radiographs for use by researchers can be arranged with the AMGRF's Curator or Assistant Curator. However, all X-Radiographs remain the property of the facility and must be returned to the AMGRF upon completion of their use.

Recently, the entire AMGRF's core X-Radiographs collection was digitized and will in the near future be placed on the web for use by researchers. In the interim, researchers can request a CD for any X-radiographs they may need in digital format. This significant digitization effort is part of a project funded through the Climate Data Modernization Program (CDMP) and coordinated by the National Geophysical Data Center in Boulder , Colorado . Digitization of the AMGRF's core X-Radiographs has progressed at no direct cost to the facility. Carla Moore of the NGDC has been instrumental in getting this large effort completed for the Antarctic science community.
