In addition to the space at the AMGRF that is utilized for routine core processing and curatorial activities, the facility houses a wide variety of equipment to enable visiting scientists to carry out additional analyses on the cores. This equipment includes:
- Quantachrome Multipychnometer
- MXRI Core X-Ray unit
- Rigaku Miniflex XRD with Jade 7.5 and search/match software and minerals database
- Zeiss Axioskop 2 with analog and digital cameras
- Olympus Microscope BX51 with Digital Camera
- Adjustable core splitter for cores 2" to 5" in diameter
- Malvern 2000 Particle Size Amplifier
- Geotek MSCL with magnetic susceptibility and attenuated gamma sensors, and line scan imagine
- Nikon D-70 digital camera with 60 mm and 18 – 125 mm lenses
- A photographic copy table for core and close-up digital photography
- Standard sediment processing facilities
- Upgraded network database server with a Four tera-byte of storage capacity
- New LCD Projector
